Its a win/loose battle in upstate ny.
hate it when I have to go out in it.
love it when I can watch it from inside the warm house and not have to go out!

my last region meeting is this sunday, jan. 11 at 4pm at o'lacy's irish pub in batavia.

convention for nys is jan. 23-25 in syracuse - if you want to come, let me know and I will send you a registration form.

HELLO JAYCEES!

There is a convention coming up in less then a month...Oct 3-4-5 in Albany....it is the ELECTION CONVENTION. This is the place where YOU as members of the NYS Jaycee Organziation get to decide who is in each position at the state level.

Are you interested in being in one of those state positions? Are you interested in going to the convention? Let me know and I will get you all the forms needed to sign up! It really isn't that hard....

Why not go to convention? If you haven't been to a convention in a few years...they have changed....if that is what you are worried about....if you have any questions...contact me...

Conventions are a great way to get to know other Jaycees from the rest of the state.

Calling all Jaycees in New York State - the Election Convention registration is out! The convention will be in Albany, at the Best Western on Wolf Road, October 2,3,4.

This is the convention in which ALL CHAPTERS have a say in who will run the state organization. Did you attend last years convention election? Did you watch how elections take place...it was intense! Not one to be missed.

well...it happens. there is just so much a person can do to help fix problems and only so much help that can be offered...its a two way street.....

i will try to be nicer in future posts :P

Hello....
is anyone out there....i mean seriously.....anyone....is anyone reading this blog?

it was set up for Region West Chapters in the NYS Jaycee Organization....but
those chapters just really don't seem to care one way or another what the state is doing...and what it means to be a part of a larger organization.

Do great things in your community...yes...they all do....but would it kill you to just tell me what the hell you are doing so maybe others in the state can come help ya...

my vent....

so its monday and i have had some time to think about what went on saturday....
what was saturday you ask...well it was a State Executive Committee Meeting in Geneva.
I got up early, drove a total of 160+ miles, tolls and around $30 of gas only to have two other people from the state show up as well. everyone else decided to not show up that morning.

I am not a vp, i don't get $ back for traveling. my region doesn't give money for me to go driving all over the state either. I pay for it and with gas as high as it is, it bothers me that I took the time out of a very busy day to go to this meeting.

So, next time we have a meeting in which we have to travel....if you are not going to go, call me in advance and tell me, becuase I can't keep driving to meetings that really are not going to take place. Its just getting too expensive to waste gas and my time....

but it was a beautiful day, nice location, great conversation with those that did show up, and we even got to see a wedding take place!!!

Great Buffalo GMM

Hello to anyone who actually reads these...since no one has left me any comments...i have reason to believe no one reads my blog!

Well, last night I attended Buffalo's GMM in which Mayor Byron Brown was the guest speaker. The place had over 35 members and from what I hear, some new potential members! Buffalo is doing great from what I can see.

Past Buffalo President David Ellerbrock asked the Mayor what he believes would be in "Brown's Book of Leadership" and the Mayor responded with the following:

"Leaders are hard working"
"the Speed of the Boss is the speed of the gang"
"Set good positive examles"
"roll up your sleeves"
"confidence with who you are working along side with"
"vision of hope and better future"

Sounds like a lot of Jaycees.....LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY!!!

IMPORTANT INFO ON MEMBERSHIP REPORTING

Hello Region West.

The following information is very important and not only effects your chapter, but the state.

If you fail to send in your membership reporting on-time to me, President Shonda, MSVP Michele and ED Scott Kingsley, the state will not be able to submit any chapter within New York to National, and the state will loose all members in that reporting month.

That means your chapter will be responsible for the rest of the state loosing its members. If the month that the state can not report is the month your chapter president is to be renewed in, your chapter may then loose its charter.

This all sounds very harsh, but there are many chapters (in other states as well) that are failing to report and this is a policy that is coming from National.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I will find out any answers for you if I can not answer them myself.

This is the information that was reported at the Jaycee Board Meeting that was held in Batavia. Important information like this is given to chapters at these Board Meetings in which your chapter presidents should be attending. Currently I believe Region West has been good about its reporting...but going forward...this is the what the state will be doing...so I ask don't let Region West be the reason for the state not to be able to send in membership info.

If you need help, that is what I am here for. If you need me to come to your chapter to help with membership, let me know so we can set up a good time.

Hello everyone...been awhile since i have posted...sorry...been busy. Life gets in the way of stuff sometimes.

Don't forget about the OYNY Convention coming up in May in Batavia. Early Registration deadline is April 2 - so send that in today!

Also, April 24 is when the state awards deadline for session 1 are due. I have asked for the awards manual for this year, but still don't have it yet...

Hello Cyperworld! I just returned from a Jaycee Convention...I will post winners later...along with other important Jaycee Info, but wanted to share this piece of info that I have come across in the news.

Erie County Clerk Kathy Hochul issued an alert for drivers. Starting January 31, 2008, you will need to show a passport or a birth certificate and government issued identification, such as a driver's license to enter the United States. US and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older will need the above. Children ages 18 and under only need to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. Passports and NEXUS cards will also be accepted.

Hello Everyone!
It's a new year, new board, new everything-but I am still the Region West Director!!! The one thing I won't be doing this year at the State Level, is the newsletter! 2 and a half years of putting the state newsletter together is enough!!! There will be new changes to that program coming soon from what I understand.

I am currently getting ready for the convention this weekend in Syracuse. If your not going, why not? It's my bday that weekend, and if I have to get up at 6am for a meeting on my bday, you have no excuse for not going!!! If you need info on signing up still, please let me know!
